Interior to Exterior

We have made sure the soil is treated well and we have fed the soil with good manure.  Now the time has come to ensure plants are sprayed  and beautiful flowers start blooming....

All this while we have worked on making our skin healthy by ensuring we keep our blood clean and healthy.  Once this is achieved, we have won half the battle!  Now the time has come to start treating our skin well from outside as well.

  • The first and most important rule to follow for skin all over the body is to keep the body clean of sweat and dirt.
  • Wash feet well when you come back home from any outing even if you have worn covered shoes.
  • Do not walk with outdoor footwear all over the house, keep separate footwear for wearing inside the house
  • Keep separate footwear for bathroom use, do not use the 'house' footwear inside the bathroom
You might be wondering what has footwear got to so with skin care!

Infected Feet

Along with footwear we bring in innumerable number of micro organisms embedded in the soil; these organisms are invisible of course and pretty harmful.  Hence, we need to restrict their entry and spreading through out the house.  Reason being, these micro organisms (or Bacteria, if you like) deposit themselves on the surface they come in contact with; when we touch these contaminated surfaces the organisms get transferred to our skin or body.  This bodily contact has two way adverse effect on our system - some bacteria cause rashes, ring worms, eczema and fungal infections on the outside; and, internally, these organisms areknown to cause intestinal and urinary tract infections, meningitis and diarrheal disease; Klebsiella pneumonia, a common source for wound and bloodstream infections as well as pneumonia; and Serratia ficaria, a rare cause of infections in the respiratory tract and wounds (According to a study which investigated germs collected on footwear, by Dr. Charles Gerba - courtesy Cleaning Industry Research Institute).
These infections create toxins in the system and play havoc with our skin's health.

To keep body clean first we ensured that micro organisms are kept as out of the house as possible.  Next, we must wash our hands as soon as we come home from an outing such as Shopping.
Public Place Objects that are Store House
of harmful micro organisms

Wash Hands well before touching face
or consuming any eatables
It has been proved by researchers time and again that currency notes and other objects in public places are major culprits that carry harmful infection causing bacteria - by touching these objects we accept these micro organisms and bring them home with us.  Hence, it becomes imperative for us to ensure we wash our hands very well as soon as we come home.  Meanwhile, avoid touching face too often or consume any food, with cantaminated hands.
Probably this is the reason my Grnad Mother always nagged me about touching my face unecessarily.  As a teenager I hated her for nagging me, but now I have immence respect for her for ensuring I do not develop the habit of feeling and touching my face for no reason.

If we are not concious about what is in our hands, even though invisible, we are inviting infections deceases inside and out.  By now we know how internal good health is extremely important for externally healthy looking skin.  Now we know, externally, keeping skin clean of dirt and micro organisms is imortant to ensure our skin's health is not affected by common skin deseases.
